ALMA Asia 2008: Improving Output and Profitability – A Practical Guide
Getting to the NanHai Hotel
The NanHai Hotel, is located in the Shekou area of the city of Shenzhen in the Guangdong province of China. It is easy to get to by air, road and ferry.
The two closest airports are Hong Kong (HKG) and Shenzhen (SZX).
If you are travelling from Europe or the USA, it is probably easiest to get a flight to Hong Kong.
From there, you can take a ferry [note that this link will take you to a site that is not maintained by ALMA, and ALMA accepts no responsibility for the accuracy of the information. Ferry schedules change regularly, so please check immediately prior to your trip.] direct from the airport to Shekou. The ferry transfer desk is located at the T1 transfer area. Just look for the signs that say “Ferry Transit” and ask for the ferry to SheKou. Be sure to have your boarding pass and baggage claim tickets with you so that your baggage will get transferred to SheKou.
The NanHai hotel is literally less than 5 minutes walk from the customs exit at the SheKou Ferry Port. When you exit the building, just look to the right and you will see the hotel. If you book early with the hotel and request a porter, someone will meet you at the ferry port and escort you direct to check in at the hotel.
Further details and maps will be provided nearer the time.
Note that US citizens require a visa to enter China. These are not difficult to get, but do require paperwork to be done ahead of your visit. Please visit the China Embassy Web Site for more information on visa requirements. We also include a summary of this information here. A google search for "Chinese Visa" will return numerous companies who can, for a fee, take care of this for you.
