ALMA Winter Symposium

January 5-6, 2008 Orleans Hotel, Las Vegas, NV

Full Schedule Announced - sign up now! Nov 06, 2007

Greetings!

This week's guest introduction is from Stu Lumsden, VP of Engineering at Polk Audio and ALMA President:

The Winter Symposium 08 will end my two-year term as president. ALMA has made significant progress this over this period; finding and installing a new executive director, increasing international membership, improving the depth and value of the symposiums in Vegas AND China, establishing a liaison for standards with the AES, beginning associations with other technical and trade organizations, and promoting a community of common interest for the loudspeaker industry that spans the globe. I applaud the efforts of the executives, board of directors, committee chairs and other volunteers who have made this possible. I also thank the efforts of our Executive director  Zarina Bhimani.

I look forward to seeing all of you, new members and old, in Las Vegas at the 2008 Winter Symposium. This year I expect the turn out at the Winter Symposium to be even greater than the 40% increase that we realized last year. We will be offering FREE EXHIBIT HALL ADMISSION on Sunday to give those who know little about ALMA an easy way to find out more and to provide getting more traffic to exhibitors. I also personally recommend the "Practical Loudspeaker Design" training class as a way of pushing new employees up the learning curve and making them become effective in design or manufacturing more quickly. This is only a fraction of what will be offered. Please read the additional information below, register and attend.

Still time to exhibit

ALMA Winter Symposium Exhibit Hall

We still have a few tabletop exhibit booths left. We are on track to have even more exhibitors than last year, so it should be a great show! A tabletop booth is only $600 for full members (additional membership fee applies for non-members). This fee includes a draped table and 2 chairs, a sign with your company name and 2 exhibit hall only staff passes which include lunch. All you need to do is show up and put your products and literature on the table. You won't find a better value exhibition booth!

Please call me at (617) 314-6977 if you have any questions.
Training Class - Peter Larsen

Peter Larsen TrainingLast year Peter Larsen's training class, "Practical Aspects of Loudspeaker Design", was sold out, so we are re-running it to give more people an opportunity to attend. Although it was described by one of last years attendees as 'the perfect training for a new engineer who needs to rapidly get up to speed with the basic principles of loudspeaker design', many industry veterans also rated it highly. The course fee includes a copy of Peter's book 'Better Loudspeaker Designs in Practice'. Other training courses include "Electroacoustic Measurements" by Christopher Struck and "Adhesives: Selection and Application for Loudspeaker Assembly" by Dan Alb.

Exhibitor Profile: KSC Industries
KSC Product Pic KSC Industries will be showing their Digmoda Professional Power Amplifier Systems with integral D-Pro DSP filters, crossovers and delay, which enable loudspeaker manufacturers to create and voice self-powered loudspeaker systems. The combination of powerful, easy-to-use D-Pro calibration software, coupled with fully adjustable onboard signal processing, significantly reduces product development time by allowing an OEM manufacturer to eliminate frequency-response, time, phase and power anomalies in real time. Once completed, system adjustments are simply and easily loaded into the plate amplifier's non-volatile flash memory during loudspeaker production. A complete line of Digmoda Plate Amplifiers is available in a variety of power-delivery levels and configurations.
