  • Greetings!

In this short update we introduce one of our invited tutorials, products from two more of our exhibitors, Gras and Loudsoft, and remind you to sign up for the symposium if you haven't already done so. Please forward this update to your friends and colleagues in the industry!

    Tutorial: Nonlinearity in Loudspeakers
    Tutorial

Alex Voishvillo will present a 45 minute tutorial on 'objective and perceptual method of assessment of nonlinearity in loudspeakers'. This tutorial will discuss recent perceptual models created specifically for the assessment of nonlinearity in transducers. These new methods will be compared with other methods and the prospects for future developments discussed.

The tutorial discusses three different approaches to the measurement of nonlinearity: objective measurements of the 'symptoms' of nonlinearity (THD, two-tone IM distortion, reaction to multitone, coherence function, etc.), nonlinear identification, and perceptual models.

Alex Voishvillo is at JBL Professional in Northridge, CA.

    Exhibitor Focus
    gras microphones

Gras will be showing a selection of microphones ranging from the smallest 1/8-inch high frequency microphones to 1-inch microphones for low levels and frequencies. The wide selection of both free-field microphones, pressure microphones and random-incidence microphones makes it easy to select the microphone for your specific application. The range of microphones is supported by a comprehensive range of high-performance preamplifiers and a wide selection of accessories.

Loudsoft will present the new FINELab(TM) QC system. This robust and reliable system with USB interface offers a range of features including high speed testing with CHIRP, sensitivity, SPL, polarity, and Thiele/Small parameters, measurement of SPL + impedance at the same time, adaptive response limits, intelligent statistics and automatic finding of the “Golden” average driver. Loudsoft will also be demonstrating its simulation software programs and discussing its consultancy services.

There is still time to join these and other exhibitors. Sign up for a tabletop booth!
