Engineering Intern, Harman International R&D Group, Northridge CA
Harman International is looking for a talented, creative, and highly
motivated engineering intern to work with the R&D Group on research
related to the development and testing of professional, consumer and
automotive audio products. The ideal candidate is currently in an
audio-related engineering degree program with a strong interest in
pursuing a career in audio engineering and/or research related to the
science of sound reproduction.
Required Experience: Coursework and/or work experience in the areas
of audio, loudspeaker design, room acoustics and psychoacoustics are
desired. Database experience with MySQL is a big plus, as is
programming experience in C/C++, .NET, Ruby on Rails or Matlab.
Experience with sound recording/editing software tools, audio
measurement tools, and critical listening skills are also a plus. The
candidate must be self-motivated, have excellent communication skills
and be willing to work with a team of audio perfectionists.
Location: Harman International, Northridge, CA.
Term: The position is for the summer months only (40 hours per week)
beginning anytime after May through September.

Loudspeaker Product Engineer

Responsibilities
- Recommend, design and develop loudspeaker products for Rockford’s OEM automotive customers.
- Work in a cross-functional team to help bring loudspeaker products from concept to production.

A minimum of 3-5 years in the field of audio or acoustics and a thorough understanding of new product development practices and processes is required. Technical experience and know-how in transducer design, theory, and testing practices is a must. Extensive experience with computer-based modeling and test software/systems (i.e. LEAP, SpeaD, LMS, Clio and/or Audio Precision) is highly desired. Programmer / Senior LabVIEW Programmer for Sound Measurement & Analysis software
Listen, Inc. is the market leader in PC based electro-acoustic test and measurement systems for testing loudspeakers, microphones, telephones, audio electronics, hearing aids and other transducers. This is an exciting opportunity for a software engineer to be responsible for designing a commercial product, rather than simply writing code and never seeing the result! There is likely to be some interfacing with customers, as well as involvement at all stages of the product development process.
This position reports to the Software Manager. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Designing and coding new Sound Measurement and Analysis software
- Improving, reviewing and de-bugging existing code
- Preparing internal and user technical documentation

Required skills / education
- Strong background (2+ years) in programming. LabVIEW experience is a bonus, but full training will be given to the right candidate.

- Competency in Visual Studio, .NET and database programs is an advantage

Technical Sales Engineer – Audio Test & Measurement Software
Listen, Inc. is the market leader in PC based audio test and measurement systems for testing audio electronics, loudspeakers, microphones, telephones, hearing aids and other transducers. We have been in business for over 10 years and our continued growth has created an opportunity for a technical sales engineer to join our team. The sales territory for this engineer will be the West Coast. The position would suit either an experienced sales engineer (3+ years of managing their own territory) who already lives on the West Coast, or a less experienced sales engineer (<3 years) who is willing to work from the Boston office for approx 18 months before moving out to the West Coast with their own territory.
This position reports to the US Sales Manager. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Generating new business for Listen’s SoundCheck software and associated equipment by following up sales leads, cold-calling and visiting prospects
- Supporting existing customers, selling software upgrades and additional systems
- Presenting technical product demonstrations to customers
- Attending trade shows
- Preparing presentations, reports, forecasts, and other written material to support the sales effort
- Working closely with our network of sales reps
- Interfacing with management, customer support, and office personnel
Required skills / education
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering / scientific subject or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2+ years in a ‘customer-facing’ environment such as sales or technical support, with a proven track record in developing and enhancing strong customer relationships

Speaker Test Engineer - QSC
Job Overview:
The Speaker Test Engineer supports the Manufacturing group and interfaces with the Loudspeaker Design group and Quality Assurance group. This position will require some travel to Asia (less than 6wks per year).
Primary functions include:
- setting up automated test scripts for testing speakers and speaker systems
- analyzing test data to identify product defects
- assisting technicians with the diagnosis and resolution of defects
- designing and building electronic devices and mechanical fixtures necessary for testing products
